Fall Portraits- Nancy

I'm so excited to share these photos! One, because they were taken this past fall and I happen to be obsessed with changing leaves. And two, they are of my wonderful mother. My mom is, well, one of a kind. She is so funny and cute, it's impossible not to love her. However, she does have a crazy side (especially if you get her in a laughing fit) which is why I find her so awesome. I have to admit I was a little nervous at the start of this shoot. For whatever reason, both my mom and dad have the worst luck with taking pictures. I don't know how they manage it but seriously if you look at the stacks of past family photos they have lying around their house its quite comical to see all the ridiculous pictures we have of these two. Or maybe I just have a twisted sense of humor, probably the latter. Anyway, for this shoot my mom did so well. She looks so stunning in all of these and I had so much fun working with her. She is such a good sport. I'm so thankful to have had such an incredible mom who has pushed me, supported me, and has been a friend to me all these years. LOVE you Mom!

New Beginnings

In our first year of marriage, Alex and I have discovered various new things about ourselves and each other. Aside from learning each others quirky habits, like stealing all the covers while we are sleeping (sorry Alex),  we have also made the discovery that neither one of us wants to pursue a career in our majors from college. Drats! However, this realization helped us to see that we would rather pursue careers in something we love than go through life settling on something that just wasn't for us. So that's what brings me to the blog post.
I have always loved photography, but I have also always been intimidated by it. When you think of photographers you think of artsy people right? But that's just not me, at least not in the sense of drawing or painting. Then I realized that is what I love so much about photos. I get to capture the beauty of creation, of people, nature, dogs (especially wiener dogs), of all these things I could never make myself yet somehow turn it into my art. I love it, so last fall I decided not to let my fear hold me back anymore. I picked up the camera, and started working on truly going after my dream. These are some of the earliest photos from when Alex and I first started practicing. Hope you enjoy!

This is Oscar. He is one of the most ridiculous wiener dogs you'll ever meet, and trust me, you will see more of him on other posts!
